Data & Usage

  • What happens when my data allowance is used up?

You will receive an email notification when your data allowance is almost used up or your tariff is about to expire. You can then simply extend your package or purchase a new one.

  • Are hotspot and tethering supported?

Yes, with WonderSim you can also connect other devices via hotspot—e.g., your tablet or laptop.

  • Does the eSIM contain a local telephone number?

No. Our eSIMs are intended exclusively for mobile data usage – not for voice calls or text messages.

  • What mobile number do I have with the eSIM?

You will not receive a new mobile phone number with your eSIM. WonderSIM is a service that only offers data connections and therefore does not provide a phone number for calls or text messages.

However, with the Ubigi eSIM, you can make free voice calls or send text messages via apps such as WhatsApp, Facetime, Messenger, or other applications that support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), such as Skype, Viber, etc.

The mobile number your contacts see will remain your normal phone number, if you have one..

  • How much data do I need when traveling?

That depends on your usage habits. As a guide:

    • 1 GB is sufficient for occasional surfing and emails for a few days.
    • 3 to 5 GB is good for social media and Google Maps.
    • 10+ GB is suitable for regular streaming.
  • How does an eSIM compare to pocket WiFi?

eSIM is cheaper, more flexible and easier – no need to carry around a device or charge a battery. You simply use your own smartphone.

  • Are there also long-term plans or subscriptions?

Yes, in addition to daily and weekly packages, we also offer monthly packages for frequent travellers.

  • Do I need to activate the roaming function on my cell phone?

Your cell phone may work abroad, but using roaming for data, calls, and text messages can be very expensive. Instead, we recommend using an eSIM via WonderSIM.
